Since I got diagnosed with celiac disease while living in Spain, my Spanish home city of Alicante is where I learned how to be celiac for the first time. And while I’ve visited 15 more countries as a gluten-free traveler since, Alicante is still where I spend 90% of my life these days!

In the early days after my diagnosis in June 2025, I found several guides for gluten-free eating in different cities in Spain. But I didn’t see a guide to gluten-free Alicante — so I decided to write it myself.
